Pros:
Waterproof. I am curious how long it will withstand moisture, so far it looks good.
Simple serial interface.
Low power consumption. It can be fed from an ESP32 GPIO pin, which allows micro Watt deep sleep.
Sufficient accuracy and resolution to measure water level in a tank.
Sufficient range, sufficient min. distance.
Cons:
Higher price than standard ultrasonic distance sensors.
I can think of use cases where the cable should be longer. For me it is o.k.
